Tried to save a few bucks on K&N filters but didn't work. The piece of rubber that goes over the carburetor has a greatly reduced neck from the filter to 44mm carb OD, resulting in a significant reduction in airflow and blocking any idle air jets on the front of the carburetor. It is about 1 inch in diameter where it draws air from the filter, the carburetor throat is 1 ¾ inch in diameter. In addition, the rubber part has a 1/16 inch groove that holds it to the metal part of the filter. This will cause the filter to fall easily from the bracket. I cut my finger putting it back in, but it never stays there. The first good nudge and it falls off immediately, slowing the dirt to get into the carb. Luckily they were easy to return. Don't waste your time and effort on them, they're a hard no go.
