We have already covered our pool for the season because we are redesigning our garden and this pump saved our lives. Although we don't have any dirt on the lid, after rinsing everything it seems that water got on our lid and we noticed that the weight of the water on the lid began to pull it back into the pool. With this pump, when water collects on the lid, we just put it there, plug it in and suck the water in, and wherever we point the hose, the water goes there. The hose on this is long enough for the water to come out of the cap onto the dirt or grass no matter which way or where we put the pump. When we're done we just take the pump and run it until all the water is out of the pump and store it in our garage. The hose is flexible enough to be rolled up and stored with the pump. It came in handy now and will definitely come in handy in the rainy season. Not to mention that this pump removes water very quickly.
