Great bang for the buck!

I just received my Rebel 500 in June and of course it needs a whistle! There are countless options on the market for a rebel. Shorty gp is the cheapest but very noisy. At the other end of the spectrum is Vance and Hines, which sounds amazing but is very expensive. I could spend money on Vance and Hines, but spending that kind of money on exhaust just didn't work for me (or my wife, lol). I've seen this tube all over eBay and liked the price and the looks but wasn't sure about the sound. I stumbled upon the list here on Revain by accident and was able to find a YouTube video as well (albeit 300). The audio in the video seemed pretty good, but the video audio was hit or miss. However, I decided to take the risk for $100 and I'm glad I did. First let me say that the tube was packed very well. The kit includes everything for installation: center tube, springs and clamp. Although I generally wore a black collar. The tube end is a beautiful satin black and I didn't notice any scuffs when I unpacked it. The pipe itself is very easy to install. Just make sure you wipe off dirt and fingerprints before the whistle heats up, otherwise they can burn into the finish. I was just amazed when I started my bike! Now it sounds like a motorcycle. When idling, the sound is deep and bassy. My first thought based on the idle noise was that it might be louder than desired at higher engine speeds. It wasn't like that at all. At higher speeds, the pipe becomes hoarse and growls softly. Downshifting with the throttle off results in a pleasant rumble with intermittent pops here and there. I read where others say that the finish line came in a short time. Time will tell, but removal literally takes less than a few minutes. So if the trim comes off, I'll just repaint it and put it back on. In general I am very satisfied. I'm so glad I didn't spend hundreds on a one brand muffler. YMMV but I think the price is worth the risk.
