Review on 🔧 Renekton 3/8” Drive Extra Long Allen Hex Bit Socket Set: Precise Metric Sizes, Robust S2 and Cr-V Steel, 7-Piece Kit by Rory Kelley

Renekton 3/8" Extra Long Hex Bits are a good set for the occasional need. They have 3⅛" hex shanks, which come in handy when something is getting in the way of the hex bolt I'm trying to remove. I had this situation with the rear differential drain bolt on my car. It's partially blocked by an anti-roll bar that's holding me up prevents using a hex wrench or short socket ratchet. A 3⅛" long 10mm Renekton hex socket extends over the stabilizer bar and facilitates removal of the differential drain plug. I've had other similar situations where I've been able to get around this with 3/8" drive extensions and universal joints, but they haven't worked. because the tightening with the torque wrench could not be performed accurately according to the specification. With the Renekton socket set, these situations are less of a nuisance. The seven hex sockets come in a blue, blow molded, thin plastic case with a mold for each socket inside. There are no markings or labels on the case to indicate what's inside. Hex sizes are marked on the shafts and the socket set is corrosion and rust resistant. This is a plus for me as I live in a humid region. The ends of the hex bars are slightly tapered to ease their entry into the hex bolt. Although less convenient to insert, I prefer the flat end as it cuts into the screw heads better and is less likely to blow off the head. Unfortunately, over the years I've only found a few dedicated hex sockets that have this feature. I will mainly use 8mm and 10mm Allen. But it is better to buy a set, and over time, other sizes will be needed for other work, and I will be glad that I have them.
