Great tool and connector

I've had similar ratchet crimping tools from a variety of manufacturers over the years. I broke down and bought an expensive American tool that was sent back to the manufacturer twice and never worked properly (I was always able to pull the crimped end of the wire out with a slight tug). I was then told these were the plugs I use so I have bought different styles from different manufacturers to no avail. The same weak crimp. It doesn't matter how it was set. I've always had to resort to hand crimping tools that I've had for years to get a good, strong crimp, but I never felt like I had the consistency I wanted. I bought this kit with the understanding that the tool and fittings were tested together so it may reduce the variables. I was very happy that yes, they work exactly as they should. I then used this tool on other brands of connectors and it worked just as well on them. Whether it was an expensive connector or a cheap connector, these crimping pliers delivered excellent crimping performance on all. I never had to tune the instrument. The tool is well made and feels good in the hand. A moderate amount of compressive force is required to complete the crimp, but I wouldn't find the pressure required uncomfortable or excessive. The connectors supplied are a good selection of butt connectors in the most common sizes. They are well formed and the insulating material is heat shrink to close the connector after crimping to protect it from moisture and debris. You might find a cheaper kit than this (although I think the price is still pretty good). ), but I can tell you that this one works really well and I don't expect to ever get it back. The wire crimping frustration meter has finally reached a solid "zero”.

Pros
  • Precise Ratchet Design: Depending on the pressure required to crimp different sizes, the built-in thick ratchet automatically adjusts to the correct position to securely complete the crimp by simply releasing the handle. Sprocket crimp height is adjustable to provide desired crimp force.
Cons
  • Only available in black
