I bought this product less than a week ago and I am satisfied with it. I only use the portable feature radio outdoors when I'm camping, backpacking, kayaking (sealed in a sealed pouch) and swimming. The radio worked, but then again I wasn't too far into the bushes. I can't say how far he can go. The product is definitely compact and easy to put in a backpack. Antenna extends up to 11 inches. I attached the belt clip to the net of the outer backpack. It uses 3 AA batteries (not included). My radio battery burned out a week ago.
