I am a regular weekend handyman and my wife recently asked me to polish our wooden address tag. We have now inherited the address sign with the house when we bought it and I estimate that there is still about 30 years of painting and repainting left on this sign. After hitting it with coarse sandpaper, I clearly needed the help of a power sander to get a feel for what I was working with. Meet the Dewalt DWE6423K Variable Speed Random Orbital Sander. Remove the piece of cardboard, look through the small instruction manual, undo the twisted tie, done. You'll need to buy compatible sandpaper, of course; I used DEWALT DW4303 5" 8-Hole 120 Grit Rotary Hook and Loop Sandpaper (5-pack) and DEWALT DW4301 8-Hole 8-Hole 5" Hook-and-Loop Sandpaper (5 per pack) for my little project bought, although there are other options. โบ Dust bag: For my little project I didn't use my shop vacuum to connect to the grinder. Now after reading a few reviews I'm not sure if I can hook up my shop vacuum to a grinder. The small dust bag picked up fine paint and wood dust quite well while I was fumbling with the address label. The bag holds a lot of dust, which means you don't have to empty it every few minutes. Based on my readings, if you want to use it with a vacuum, you'll probably need to buy an adapter. . The grinder is smooth and light enough to move around and I didn't feel like it resisted me at all. Smaller details, like sanding the edges of my address tag, weren't a problem either. Replacing the sandpaper is as easy as tearing off a piece of Velcro and attaching a new one, just make sure you line up the holes on the bottom! Owner information/warranty card โบConclusion: I don't regret having ordered this eccentric sander. To be honest I wish I had commissioned it years ago instead of being stubborn and hand sanding so many small projects. I'm a fan, I recommend!
