I bought this to stock up on lamp oil after Hurricane Sandy. In the weeks after the storm, it was difficult to find supplies like lamp fuel at local hardware stores. There's a difference between pure lamp oil like this and the tiki torches you can find at many outdoor and hardware stores. It is a clean combustible oil that can be used indoors without emitting fumes or smoke. Oil lamps are a great emergency lighting option because the fuel and materials are durable and you will survive if you never use them. You can also get them in all variations according to your taste. They create a very romantic lighting when the electricity is out and it's nice to be able to adjust the strength of the flame by turning the knob. This is a large jar of lamp oil. If you don't use oil lamps to create atmosphere every day, you won't get over it anytime soon. If you plan on keeping it on the shelf just in case, I'd recommend pouring the contents into a glass jug. I've read reports of lamp oil and plastic containers interacting over time and making the plastic brittle. No issues with the fuel itself - burns as expected with no smoke or soot.
