I've tried quite a few timers over the years and have found that most are lacking in one aspect or another. However, the Thomas 5017 timer is just about perfect for a basic home timer. The numbers are big and easy to read, the buttons are easy to press, and the size is just right. The only thing I don't like is that the functionality of all the buttons isn't entirely obvious, so you have to think about how they're going to work. Perhaps the labels could be more intuitive, and of course you can get used to them after a while. As others have noted, the magnets are not strong enough for the weight of the device. I deal with this by holding it horizontally instead of hanging on its side. I've uploaded a photo of the magnets so you can see their size and also get an idea of how to remove them in response to the question of whether or not they can be removed.
