Review on Olympus J500 Microcassette Recorder by Seth Singh

I often use mini tape recorders for interviews and this recorder is great for the price. It's small enough to fit in a shirt pocket (and at the same time very thin) and has good ergonomics: easy to play, fast forward, etc. It has all the necessary controls. I can't speak about sound in relation to others, but for a voice it's more than enough. It picks up voices quite clearly even in relatively noisy environments. I also like the battery indicator so I always know when to take extra batteries that last quite a while. I can't speak to reliability either, but I haven't had any problems in half a year of use. The only downside is that the mic/headphone jack is smaller than other recorders so you will need an adapter or mic/headphones with small plugs and that they do not come with an AC power supply. But overall it's great.
