With these devices one would like to be able to use a frequency between 87.9 and 87.5. Most of what you get now doesn't go below 88.1, which is in the range used by radio stations. I've never had any problems with radio interference when using 87.9 while traveling in the US. The sound quality is very acceptable, there is almost no white noise.
