I really enjoyed building this box with my 13 year old son. He helped me punch out the pieces and put them together. We found that if we used some wire cutters and a rotary knife along with a block of sandpaper, the pieces came out fine on the sheets and we were able to fit them better. Another tip I read elsewhere was to use the clear crayon you get in Easter egg kits or a regular white candle to put some wax on the tight fitting pieces so they didn't resist either. This set will help you see how the pieces work together to create movement. The music box fits snugly and neatly into the base. This is a great activity to do alone, with someone, or as a gift. My dad loves collecting models so I think this would make a great Christmas present for him - I also give him a pair of thin wire cutters, a sanding block and a small candle so he has everything he can to help.
