
This is about 1cm less than what it takes to replace the original nozzle that came in my Harbor Freight soldering iron. However, I inserted this bit with enough headroom to get the job done and it was able to melt the solder. I didn't try to actually solder the joint, just checked that it was hot enough to melt the solder without pushing it all the way into the iron. I think if you're cheap enough (or use it infrequently enough) to use a $10 soldering iron from Harbor Freight, it should work.
