The plastic was peeling off each item - so I cleaned it completely - added some plastic in hard to reach places. (Even after two washes in the dishwasher.) It was lighter than I expected. BUT it's perfect for lighter purposes, as well as for buttering and eating hot corn on the cob. Definitely a good summer tool - and not only. downgraded the rating. After using it for a while, I found many more uses for this little device. But the bad news is that the spring inside and the clip outside are not properly coated and will rust! all kitchen utensils that have rusted for decades. What a surprise.
