I have a couple of plate jacks, but on both of them I have to lift the plate just enough to allow the jack to slide before lifting. After you've lifted the plate enough to insert the plate lifter, you may need to repeat this process again if you are not lucky enough to center the plate lifter in the plate. With the Gorilla Gripper, simply slide the open handle onto the top of the panel and lift. The wedge grip action grips hard and I've never had any slippage or loosening. I purchased a model that can grip anything from 26 gauge sheet metal to 3/4" thick plywood. The top handle mounting position is great for lifting heavier panel goods as there is no need to bend or lift the panel to lift to install the plate lifter.
