I'm a portrait/wedding professional, our full time studio shoots a lot of weddings and that's why we use this flash. We have a couple of Canon 580 flashes that work great, but being a budget guy I'm always looking for something cheaper. I have made several Nissan flashes for Canon but I found them to have a terrible AF assist light. The Nissan is almost useless in dim lighting where the camera can't autofocus. With the Sigma EF-610 it's the other way around, the AF assist is as good or better than the Canon 580. Battery usage is very good, exposure accuracy is also good. The only problem I want to point out is that you can't see a little diagram that shows you how to put the batteries in correctly, especially in low light. I would recommend this flash as a half price replacement for the Canon 580. I'm on the verge of getting another one.
