First, installation is a great pain. The instructions are not clear and you will spend a lot of time installing the mounting brackets. Especially since the instructions recommend placing it at a distance where it will never work according to normal assembly patterns (the distance between the two screws is also too far apart and you will never put them both in the same stud). Only to find out that the lift itself is an absolute joke to take the kayak to the top. If you try to lift the kayak, if there is a kink where it is on the kayak, the straps will slip off immediately. It could have worked, as one reviewer said, if the straps had some sort of rubber or something to provide resistance and keep the kayak from rocking out of the straps. But this is a minus. Don't buy this.
