These shoes carried me through the mountains of Peru in comfort! I didn't want to spend a lot because I knew they'd get dirty and worn from the terrain, and these were a great compromise of quality & low price. I wouldn't use them for running or jumping exercises, but as a walking/"play" shoe they were perfect. Many people we saw were wearing expensive, heavy hiking boots, which I had considered buying, but I'm glad I went with these. After about 150 miles of hiking on bare rock, sand, pavement, and gravel, they definitely show some wear but the knit upper enables these to be washed in your washing machine. The back of the shoe, near the achilles tendon, rubbed a bit when I first got them, but due to the flexible nature of the material they broke in really quickly. The upper is stretchy, which is great if you have feet swelling or if your feet feel sore and stiff after wearing a more rigid shoe.
