Great speakers but NOT BETTER THAN T-20

Hi guys, so I first bought this speaker set and T-20 to compare. So here's my review: This isn't for bass lovers. If the sense of rhythm is more important, you should get a 2.1 stereo system. However, if you want a set of FLAT speakers, which are essentially budget studio monitors, this is your best bet. These speakers have a very natural and enjoyable bass that is not weak but really goes with your music as it should. Additionally, dedicated tweeters provide snare and hi-hat clarity that many small kits can't match. These are very balanced speakers that deliver a very high volume of 95 dB with little effort and can easily be pushed higher without distortion. . The membranes are made of high-quality fabric and the tweeters have a silk dome. At $80, it's pretty much the best deal you can get, but there's a catch. They are NO BETTER THAN the T-20. The T-40s will NOT sound better than the smaller version, the T-20s, nor will they be as loud as the smaller version because they have two diaphragms only trying to handle 2 watts of extra power. However, they have a somewhat "big" sound. So if you mainly listen to music through speakers 2 feet away from your desk, buy the cheaper T-20 as it's the best audiophile set you can get in this price range. However, if you want to use them primarily for watching movies across the room, the T-40s handle chaotic action sequences a little better, but to be honest there's no difference in sound quality, just in the picture The soundstage with the T-40 needs to be heard a little further. FYI I ended up returning them and keeping a smaller set as my mastering friend listened to them and they didn't notice any improvement in quality between sets either.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • too dumb
