The stand is a little wobbly, it's actually pretty wobbly but that doesn't stop cats from using it. I put up a tree and my cat (who ironically has no claws) used the scratching post all the time. No other part of him interested her. I gave the tree to my sister and her two cats love it. They ate the balls right away. Your cat girl is obsessed with sleeping in a box and hardly ever comes out. The young kitten loves to sit upstairs, play with balls and use the scratching post. Both LOVE wood. I think it's entirely up to the cats whether they use it or not. As I said, my cat showed no interest, my sisters' cats are obsessed. So if you have cats that tend to use these "trees" I would highly recommend this. The structure is good, the material is soft, everything is easy to assemble, the size and color are right size to fit in your home without taking up the whole space. I think it's best to introduce these trees to kittens or very young cats to generate interest. My sister's cats are 1, my cat is 12. My cat is 9 pounds and size was not an issue. My sister's cats are bigger and longer, probably around 10 pounds too, and the tree suits them perfectly.
