What I learned afterwards

This stabilizer balances the phone well and gives me good video. But there were a few pitfalls that despite all the pre-purchase reading I was not prepared for on various sites on the internet: 1) From everything I had read, I wasn't aware that this device which does not support the use of an external microphone. With this version of the Osmo, external microphones must be connected directly to the mobile phone and not to the Osmo as with other models. Since I have a Nexus 6p phone that doesn't support external microphones, this is an issue. Since the latest iPhones don't have an external microphone jack, this is a problem for these users. Given that hanging down the mic cable at the end of any phone device can throw the Osmo off balance, this is likely to be an issue regardless of the phone you're using. (The horizontal balance point for the phone is manually adjusted using the slider on this unit to minimize stress on the gimbal motors. On my phone, without further adjustment, this slider slides all the way out to handle the extra weight 2) If I mount my phone without a protective case, the phone clip on the gimbal presses on the phone's volume buttons on the side and this partially interferes with the gimbal's control/software path. . The gimbal does not respond to moving the joystick or using the video/photo buttons. When I put a case on my phone that protects the buttons by pushing them into the holes on the side of the case, the gimbal controls work fine. But I have to force (snap) the phone into the Osmo phone holder because it doesn't open wide enough to fit my phone case, which is 80mm wide. (Without the case, my phone is 77.25mm wide, which the gimbal clip handles well. The power and volume buttons protrude another 0.75mm. Eventually, something will tire and break the gimbal clamp. Maybe I can fix part of the 3) I read on several websites that the digital zoom function shutter + joystick does not work with Android phones on Osmo Mobile. The DJI website just states that there is a zoom function without specifying the phone model. So I didn't know what to expect. I was happy to find out that this feature works with my Nexus 6p. Good news to offset my other frustrations.
