People who leave bad reviews about a product are sometimes not true. At first I could give Micro-Touch one star. I think it is our responsibility to call the manufacturer to see if it could be defective. As for me, if I can't talk to a live person, I will never use their products again. In the years that I have owned RCBS, both PACTs died a few years ago. I never trusted the ether of two. Bought a used Lyman M-5 Ohaus balancer and RCBS control weight set. I also have a new Ohaus-style Lyman D-5 as a backup. Two years ago I decided to weigh the H2O cases. Using a log is useless. I bought a Frankford Arsenal DS-750. digital powder scale. I thought it would work well for weighing cases. But not for weights unless you're comfortable with +/- 0.2 grains. In my opinion, digital scales don't work well when adding powder. You have to remove the pan, drizzle, and then put it back on the scale. Or you can buy the scale for $500.00. It's faster to use a log. I use Redding Match grade 3BR. Some powders work well and others don't. So I use Redding's measure to get closer. Then I calibrate the M-5 with the RCBS scale reference weight. Then I pour the powder from Redding into the M-5 bowl and sprinkle the required weight of powder over it. Now the Franklin Adrenal DS-750s were very cheap scales, just over $30. I decided to buy a Lyman Micro-Touch 1500 electronic scale for about $70. So today I loaded 223 with a 23.6 gram Vihtavuori N-133. Set the Redding measure. Calibrated Lyman M-5 to 23.5 with RCBS control weights. Set up Franklin DS-750 and Lyman Micro-Touch. Check the balance several times on the RCBS scale. Some were correct, others were hard from 0.1 to 0.2. Then zero both scales on two digital scales using the M-5 Powder Cup. Two things have accumulated. The first DS-750 was +/- 0.0-0.2 more than the M-5, about 40% of the time it was 0.1 more. The Micro-Touch no longer keeps the bowl at zero weight. Almost every 5 times I had to readjust the weight of the pan. I could see that the Micro-Touch weighs between 0.2 and 0.6 grains. By that time, Lyman will have a star. That's not good, I'll call Lyman, it's probably just a defective device. When I called Lyman they told me they had faulty 110 volt powder adapters. They told me to use a battery powered scale. So I checked the scale on the batteries and it worked as advertised and was +/- 0.1. They send new 110 volts. Lyman now earns 5 stars for both scope and support for Lyman products.
