I waited six months to review this product because two competing models disappointed me within the first two months. This one worked perfectly for me (see exception) and I liked it so much I bought a second one for my wife. Hers works well too, using all three surfaces to charge. (The only exception is that the ORIGINAL first edition Apple Watch, which came before the Series 1, doesn't charge. I don't have that watch anymore, so I don't care.) It's completely self-contained: you drag it There's no need to add your own charging watch, and there's just one cable that connects to the included charger. I love the tilt support so I can see the iPhone in place and use it whenever I want.
