I purchased this lens for the D7000 as a portrait lens, because the budget option in the face of the Nikon 50mm f / 1.8D AF (which I wrote about earlier) did not suit me at all . And as it turned out, the 50mm FR is not very convenient for me, preferably 35 mm in the face of the Nikkor AF-S 35mm f / 1.8G (which I also wrote about), so the Nikkor AF-S 50mm f / 1.4G option was not even considered. The first thing I noticed when checking in the store is the dust protection of the lens, which is not available either at 35 mm or at 50 mm. The lens is quite heavy, very well assembled, leaves the impression of a quality item. Photos of the test table showed very good sharpness across the entire field of the frame at an open aperture and simply excellent sharpness in the aperture range of 2.5-4 (I didn’t test it more closed, because I’m not interested in f more than 4-5.6) . On In practice, the lens behaves excellently, excellent color, fast autofocus (faster than 35), smears very rarely, mainly in difficult lighting conditions. At an open aperture, the depth of field is very, very small, you have to be extremely careful when focusing, I shoot at 2.2-2.8 . I noted an interesting feature . The depth of field is, as it were, shifted forward from the subject, i. E. there is some sharply depicted space in front of the subject, and the background behind the subject is immediately blurred . Is it supposed to be like this or is it front focus? (everything is ok on tests). The detail is much better than the 35mm. The resume is ambiguous. I will not advise lovers to buy because it is expensive, and the application is limited, and the pros do not need my advice. But if you are passionate about photography and portrait shooting is a priority, then this glass is for you!. p. S I completely forgot about the shortcomings. Significant XA up to f4 inclusive, it doesn’t matter, of course, but it spoils the overall ideal picture.
