We just bought a used 2016 Ford Fusion and we love this car but were disappointed that this year didn't have the backlighting of previous years. That's where this kit comes in. I investigated how the center console panels come loose. I bought tools to open car panels and a knee pad. I spent some time looking under the dash and seats to see where I could install this kit and route the wires. In the end, I settled on the rear cigarette port, located on the back of the console between the rear seats. I removed the back cover and taped the controller module to the outside of the console using 3M double sided tape (not included) and then routed the wires down and under the plate. Then split the wires into two sets (one on each side) and route them under the next section of panels on each side. I ran a short cable to the seat. I found a place where it doesn't get pinched when raising and lowering the seat. Run a cable through this place and leave it there for now. I then routed a longer cable along the console bezel to the dash and left it for now. Then I repeated the process on the other side. My car is equipped with knee airbags, so I had to make sure my cords and light strips weren't interfering with their operation. (In other words, don't mount headlights on airbags! Ah!) I finally found a suitable spot deep under the dash. I ran one end of the red 3M tape and pressed the light strip against the dash. I slowly peeled off the red plastic wrap and gradually turned on the light. This was important to not get the 3M tape dirty or stuck in the wrong place. There was no suitable place for the seats to use the tape method of installation unless I cut off the headlights, instead I used zip ties to attach them to the pipe under the seats. Again, make sure that the cable is not pinched anywhere and that there is enough play when the seats are moved all the way back and forth! Once the LED strips were fully installed I made sure all the cables were tucked away and then pulled all the panels back out. Installing with rear IMO cigarette connector makes installation very clean. It's still very easy to go back and press the power and mode buttons in my particular car. Each vehicle will be different, so take your time and explore your options to make the installation as clean as possible. I chose this set over others for 3 reasons. 1: Long LED strips. 2: More LED colors. and modes not included in other kits. 3: No wireless controller that can be lost or broken. (or IR sensor to install!) This is by far the best car interior LED kit on the market right now. I will take another one as a present for my brother.
