I really wish I had bought this many years ago as it would have saved me a lot of frustration and hassle. We don't have pets but I have kids who sometimes eat and spill things and sometimes I carry things. Even if you don't have pets, this seat cover is very useful because it is waterproof and easy to clean. The surface is cloth-like, but somewhat smooth and soft. Unlike normal car seats for the back of the car, there are no hooks, straps or latches to attach. There are a few stretchy things that fit under the seat, but they're lightweight. I didn't have to take the entire seat and step back like I did with the car seat covers they replaced. I was able to install this in a few minutes. Installing and uninstalling takes a few minutes alone. With someone helping you (one on each side of the car), it takes less than a minute to install or remove. Although the surface is soft, it is smooth. So it's easy to wipe off when your pet leaves hair behind. I don't keep pets in my suitcase, but sometimes I carry things from the hardware store, like bricks or dirt, and sometimes those things end up on the seat. It's easy to sweep or vacuum as the surface is smooth and thick enough to move around not to be sucked in by the vacuum cleaner and to remain calm. Sometimes I eat in a bowl and sometimes some liquid seeps or drips onto the seat cover. Now that it's waterproof, just wipe it clean. Don't worry, it will leak and ruin your real car seats. I haven't checked if it's a U-shaped seat cover, so if you have a real dog or cat they don't get seat backs. front dirty or not. Maybe they have it because the bottom layer is thick enough, but I can't say for sure because. I don `t have pets. If it has it, meaning you can insert it from the "seat" part, then this seat cover would be perfect - it not only protects the current lower seat, backrest, but backrests from it as well. Anyway, I wish I had gotten it years ago. Would save me a lot of trouble. Unless you're lugging things around and resting cooking utensils on the seat, the nice padding makes them super easy to put on and take off.
