You should definitely wear white underwear under these pants. They're beautiful and I'm glad they have a bit of a stretch, and the belt is a style bonus, although we don't need it for functionality. I bought a size 8 for my 7 year old who is 75 pounds and a size 10 for my 10 year old who is 100 pounds. A 7-year-old is very similar to a 10-year-old in terms of waist size, but much smaller. The size 8 pants fit around his waist but were very long so we had to pull them up about 5 inches! A 10 year old is just growing up so the waist was quite tight but wearable. The length was perfect for him.
