If you need a taillight bright enough for daytime driving in fog/rain conditions, this taillight is probably not for you. I've been using the old AAA powered Superflash for years and it was good enough for my guy. Ride. Mostly unlit trails. Partial city traffic. I've always used the flash mode, which is very noticeable. Rain, fog, snow, whatever. Hard mode is still good on a clear night, but not in poor daytime visibility. The old Superflash had a tendency to pop out when going over bumps. There was also a weak switch. This model has built-in batteries, meaning it's one piece that won't fall apart. The switch has also been improved. I don't think it's really brighter than the old one. Cosmetically, it is upgraded compared to the old model with the black plastic case. White plastic looks rough after a while. I still think Superflash is good value for money.
