Review on Melissa & Doug Dress-Up Construction Set for Preschoolers by Bryan Finken

Great puzzle for kids; one of my favorite toys

I bought this for my daughter when she was 3 years old and it's one of my favorite purchases I've made for her. It seems such a simple toy - putting faces and clothes on mom, dad and teddy bear, but it's multifaceted. Each bear has multiple faces including sad, happy, surprised, angry and surprised. They also come with several outfits including pajamas and a raincoat. The parts are relatively thick and strong - they are made of a material that reminds me of thin chipboard. These are not fragile pieces of cardboard that bend easily. The box comes with a lid that doubles as a puzzle board. I like that there is a lid. Other reviewers have mentioned that all parts are not interchangeable. I never expected that because the bears are clearly different shapes and sizes. It's easy to tell which bear fits most of the details and my 3 year old figured it out fairly easily. This puzzle is great for helping children recognize and express feelings. My daughter spoke very late so she let us know what she was thinking including to let me know I needed to put on a happy face more often. This is good for identifying the right clothing matches. You can even use it to talk about the weather - when do you wear sweaters? rain jacket? My daughter played with it almost every day for 30 minutes for a year. She loved this puzzle and even now, at the age of five, she occasionally takes it out to play.
