This motion detector is great! I was having trouble with my 8 and 10 year olds sneaking downstairs after sleeping and taking food/sweets/drinks to their rooms to rot so I found them a week later. Not to mention staying up all night if they wanted to go downstairs to watch TV. To stop this I hung the motion detector part at the bottom of the stairs and the plug on the side in my room, no more attempting to go downstairs after the first night! As soon as motion is detected, a ding-dong sound (like a doorbell) goes off in my room and I know it. You can hear it outside my room and be back before I go! Now they sleep all night. What was the ideal. Even though the detector is at the bottom of the stairs, the range is so good that depending on the size of the person, they can only get to the top center before the sound goes away. Because the sound can disappear into another room, and depending on the volume, they may not even know it's been muted.
