These are heavy duty plates. Not sure if they are plastic or paper. Somewhere in between. When they arrived the box was surprisingly heavy. They are smaller than I expected. Even though they are 9 inch plates the slots for food are very small. I took a picture with a piece of sandwich bread for reference. These plates would not hold man-sized meal portions. Maybe a sandwich and chips or smaller portions- they would be fine. For sturdiness, 5 stars. For the amount of food they hold- 4 stars.
