I had an old XBox 360 Arcade that got caught in a thunderstorm and lost its HDMI and network connections. I was reluctant to buy a new XBox and save money so I ordered one of these adapters to try and get my XBox Live back. I plugged it into a USB port and it recognized it immediately and then walked me through the process of connecting. It worked fine for about 30 seconds until realizing something was plugged into the network port (which I didn't have). It then switched back to Wi-Fi, then back to Ethernet, and so on. So the network port obviously didn't get annoyed. There's supposedly a way to plug a paperclip into your network port so that it doesn't (see YouTube), but I didn't have the patience. Aside from that, I don't know how to fix the OS to stop it doing this. Take my advice: just wait until the XBox goes on sale and buy a new one with built-in WiFi. In the end you will be much happier and won't have to waste time like I did.
