These valve stem caps are made of aluminum alloy. Many valve stems are made of brass. The aluminum caps corrode the valve stems and are very, very difficult to remove. The process can accelerate and deteriorate in wet or humid conditions. When this happens and they cannot be removed, replacing valve stems and potentially defective TPMS sensors can cost you as much as $150 PER TIRE. Just avoid this and use a plastic cap with an integrated o-ring to create a seal. These caps also fade or lose their color after a short time.
