If you use a case of any kind - even Apple's rather modest case - you'll need an adapter to use this dock if you don't want to remove the case every time you dock your phone on. At first I was very upset about it. This is the 4th or 5th iHome I've owned but my first Lightning iHome and all 30 pin versions came with inserts to accommodate all your iPhone/iPod needs. But not in here. However, I still love their products and "fixed" the problem with a $20 Stubz Dock adapter (don't get the cheap ones). I also glued the adapter to the dock with a small amount of silicone (I can always poke a razor through to "cut it off") - this keeps the dock adapter in place and prevents it from collapsing every time with the phone triggers when you go to grab it. Make iHome better next time!
