Inside and outside not 100% private. It is very difficult to see through the mirror from the outside, but if you get close enough to the glass you can see inside a little during the day. It seems to block a lot of heat, so if that's what you're looking for, this will definitely work for it. I have apartments across from me so I'm trying to get some privacy from my sliding doors. If you look at a photo you can clearly see my daughter's toy box in front of the window outside with foil. And you can also see that my overhead light is on.
