This chair is quite large and every buyer should consider all dimensions before purchasing. Don't expect this chair to look like leather. The finish is simply vinyl or often known as faux leather and has a maroon appearance with tiny black flecks. Prepare with two people to set up this chair with lots of carpeting, otherwise you could spend an hour on it. Attaching the back plate to the base is perhaps the most difficult task, aligning the slotted holes and picking up the screws. This is something you don't want to do alone, and you'll need a flashlight to see when the holes line up. They don't match exactly, so the screw must be slightly off-center, but if you're lucky the threads will align and secure the back to the base. They provide an extra screw if one is stripped. Take your time and read/follow the instructions carefully as they include an extra sheet. We've only been using it for a few weeks, but in harsh environments where the chair often bumps into furniture, or in high-traffic areas, the fabric will certainly suffer. Just a mid-range chair made in China in the most cost effective way and likely to serve many purposes. No custodian for many years and will likely last 5 years or more if care is taken. The chair is surprisingly comfortable, at least for this consumer, but my old chair was the worst. so maybe something will be better. You'll need to make a lot of adjustments if you want to put as little strain on your back as possible while still being able to "sit back," and it's all done by turning the knob on the bottom. It adjusts to a good height, which was important to me as I like the max. Good deal with free shipping and it would be hard to find a comparable chair cheaper at retail.
