It's cotton but rough. Because it's cotton, it creases easily. I've washed it several times (have used it for almost 4 months and washed every week. Sometimes twice a week.) but it's still not soft enough. So if you are looking for soft, smooth, comfortable cotton bed sheets, this is not for you. But if you're looking for good prints, of course. my kid loves it. He sleeps with another smooth cotton comforter, so no complaints about this sheet. Nice deep pocket. The stitching is weak near the pockets. The seams on the sheets from the first order came undone on the first wash. And the second (replacement order) is excellent, there are no problems with the seams. Durable material. Thick cotton does not show through.
