Review on Fujifilm FinePix XP140 Waterproof Digital Camera with 16GB SD Card - Yellow: Enhance Your Photography Experience by Craig Lovro

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Hoping for the best, but it's really good.

First of all I have to say that I can't be too harsh on the product because of the price. I knew it wouldn't blow my mind for the price, my Note 8 produces much higher quality images. The main reason I bought this camera is to use it in a kayak. Nothing is more daunting than lugging around my pro DSLR and lenses. with me in the kayak, those days are over and I'm no longer afraid of splashing water on my camera. I don't take quality pictures kayaking, good pictures are all I'm looking for and I take these pictures without fear of my camera getting wet. The XP140 really fits the bill. I'm just going to dive into this review and talk about what I like most about this camera. First, it has 20 shooting modes. That's right, 20! I like SR Auto (Scene Recognition) best because I just want to pick up the camera and shoot without looking at the menus. One of the shooting modes is called "ADVANCED FILTER" which gives you 17 additional custom filters like Fisheye, Key, Toy Camera and more that you can choose manually. There are self timers, slow motion modes, video modes, connect wirelessly to your phone via the Fuji app. Auto/manual focus, you can change the ISO setting. This camera has many options, I've been a photographer for many years so I'm pretty familiar with camera features. But if you're new to cameras, I recommend reading the manual to familiarize yourself with everything this camera is capable of. The battery life is fantastic, I can shoot 3 or 4 days of photos on a single charge with average usage. and turn it off when I'm not filming. Video will greatly decrease battery life as well as extreme temperatures. Things I don't like but knew what to expect from a camera at this price point. First, the image quality can be really good, but it can also be really bad. it handles bright light just as well as a cheaper phone. My Galaxy Note 8 takes better quality pictures than this camera. But I didn't buy it for grandeur, I bought it to capture the fun of kayaking and water memories with friends. And he does it very well. I like to transfer pictures to my phone and edit them with Snapseed before posting them online. Second is video, 4K is really useless at 15 fps, 1080p 60 is really good and that's what I use. The quality of the microphone is terrible, it's like old GoPro cameras in waterproof cases, you really have to yell at the camera to record anything. Underwater videos are really good when the water is clear or when you are close to the surface on a sunny day. There's no lens cap either, the lens itself has a protective clear lens, but if it gets scratched there's no way to fix it. It's attractive, lightweight, pretty easy to use, very durable, and waterproof! Overall I am very happy with this camera, my overall rating is 5 stars. better for the price, but I think some features could be done a little better, especially the mics, and 4K 15 doesn't make any sense at all. I also bought a floating hand strap for this in case I should drop it and it floats really well in the chamber. (The included images have been edited for the web, and some color, exposure, and sharpening adjustments have been made.) I didn't think of writing a review when I was shooting, otherwise I would have kept the originals. But it shows what you can achieve with this camera. The attached pictures were taken during my first walk with the XP140, love it so much!
