Got this for my kids. The first gel we got was too hard (maybe because it's winter) but the ants couldn't dig through it for two weeks. So we got replacements and in just a few days they had already made a long tunnel! It's beautiful and easy to set up. As a precaution, we sealed the lids with tape. (Remember to pierce the strap with air holes.) There are two separate covers. A smaller one for the feeding area and a larger one above. They were both provided. No gaps or holes. There are small holes on the sides with removable covers for installing tubes. Which we did a week later. Other reviewers mentioned how the ants had trouble climbing the pipes, so we also taped little "climbing ropes" inside the pipes. I thought it would help the ants. The blue gel is very pretty. Kids love watching ants in all areas. You can remove the small closed hole from above and let water drip into it. The package includes: pipette, magnifying glass, 2 water towels, 2 test tubes and a plastic tweezers that we used for feeding and cleaning. You most likely have harvester ants, so be careful when opening the lids to clean and feed them. Keep the ants inside and watch out for bites! It was easy to move the ants from old to new (and you could chain more than 1 together). The holes are big enough to catch the ants but small enough that they don't squirt out and hurt you.
