About 3 years ago this little duckling I called "duckling" was left behind his flock when she all learned to fly. A believable story. He sat in my backyard and honked at them, but no one came. I started feeding him thistle seed and then added some duck crumbs. His pathetic, lonely beeping disturbed me deeply. He began to work out takeoffs and landings on our reservoir and eventually flew away. He came by every now and then. So this spring "Duckling" brought his flock of 14 little ducklings to show me. They don't live here, but they drop by in groups of 2, 3, or 6 to snack on my Purina Safflower Seed and Duck Feed mix. They love it.
