It was very easy to connect. It only has a positive and negative 12 volt supply line and an inductive signal ring. The signal ring is simply pushed over the cable of the amplifier to be controlled. It comes with a 4ft extension cable for the inductive sensor ring, allowing the monitor to be mounted remotely from the live cable if desired. I have one in my van and one in my boat that reads amps going through the main battery wire to the house batteries. It shows my incoming amps, and when the charging sources are off and not working, the meter shows my outgoing amps. I connected the power cord through a small toggle switch so the display can be turned off when not needed. It can't really show the wattage drawn by two RV interior LED lights, but if a few more LED lights come on or a fan or other device that reads at least 0.5 amps is turned on, it will be accurate. it easily shows the power consumption of a single incandescent lamp, since lamps of this type usually draw at least one ampere. This is NOT a cumulative ammeter, just an ammeter that shows real-time what amps are either going out or entering the wire at the moment it is showing.
