You never know what you're going to get until you get it.

Buying driftwood for the blind is always scary. This falls into the category of blind dates only. With that in mind, it also makes you a little more open to the idea of "Whatever it is, I'll make it work!". The good thing about Mopani Driftwood is that. I just look good. The bad thing about Mopani Driftwood is the tannins. It can't be helped, the tannins come out and I don't care who tells you it will go away with time. No, it will always be there. How much tannins the wood releases is a coin toss if you ask me. Yes, cooking helps reduce the amount, but it comes out as soon as you put it in. Water. Luckily this one didn't lose as much as the others. But I don't mind a product if you get one that sheds so much that the water turns brown. It's just what you get when you buy it. Some people like the look, I'm not really a fan but I've learned to live with the tank itself giving me the look I want. One thing you should keep in mind, the smaller the tank, the more tannins will affect you. Also keep in mind that Mopani Driftwood is (mostly) two-toned. The darker the lager, the more tannins you get.
