We cook a lot of steamed vegetables at home. We've gone through 2 plastic steamers in the last 5 years or so. We almost always hand wash them, but over time they become brittle. We wanted to try to find it on Black Friday but it was almost impossible to find Vapers. Obviously, steaming veggies isn't cool anymore. It looks like all the kids are air frying what they want. :) This thing works great. I like that it's stainless steel with a glass top. I had no problems with rust in the lower heat area. It discolors a bit from heat, but I'm not surprised. Yes, the holes in the pots are big. If you make something the size of a pea, you'll lose it through the holes. You must cook these items in a different container. Uncomfortable, but not the end of the world. This steamer takes longer to steam than our other steamers. About 20 minutes for most vegetables compared to 12-15 minutes. Don't overfill if you won't be steaming for a long time. Too little water leads to dehydration. Too much and it takes an hour to cook the green beans. I like that you can detach the cable. On our last steamboat I had problems with the built-in cord. He always seemed to fall out of the closet and mock me. This is pulled out and thrown into one of the pots. This makes storage easier. Basically we are very satisfied. Hope this lasts long.
