*********** Update after 1 year ****** ******** Brushes stopped working. I have used this device about 30 times in the last year with an average session length of 30 minutes. Looks like Rug Doctor should have the best quality control. It is maintenance free and hopefully under warranty. I have already bought, used and destroyed almost all consumer grade carpet cleaners. Many of them have used brushes to ruin my carpet and not absorb the water fully, making my carpet feel very "greasy," as I can put it. You may notice that not all of the soap has leaked out of the carpet. We hired a carpet doctor from the store which worked 1000x better and was constantly pulling black water out of our carpet. Really disgusting. However, the carpet feels new and clean again. We had to buy it after use. I will say that the only disappointing thing about this is the fact that the top latch does not "click" or give any mechanical response when closed. A small quality oversight but otherwise a very good and efficient machine.
