Review on Refurbished AMD Athlon Quad-Core X4 860K 3.7GHz Edition FM2+ 95W 4MB CPU Processor by Mateusz Zjc ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

No complaints, I recommend the product for purchase.

I got a very hot copy! I put a cooler on it from my old Phenom II X4 925, but the cooler can't cope with the new processor! In idle it is 42-45 degrees, but under load it rises to 65 degrees in a couple of minutes, and then the overheating protection turns on and the BIOS reduces the voltage on the core, reducing the frequency of its operation. At first I thought it might be with the motherboard, I compared the BIOS version with the site - the latest version. I launched LinX-0.6.5 and already on the third pass AIDA64 5.80 shows a temperature of 67 degrees. I had doubts, maybe something was wrong with the sensor, I decided to touch the radiator, touched the heat pipe - I almost burned myself like a soldering iron. In terms of performance, the processors are approximately the same, only the old Phenom has a 45 nm process technology and 125 watts of power dissipation. The new X4 840 has a manufacturing process of 28 nm and 65 watts, but in fact 840 heats up more ! If anyone is interested in comparing performance with their own, then in the CPU-Z test CPUID Benchmark 15,01,64 (Win 10x64) one core 1068 points, 4 cores 3955 points (in the 32-bit version of Win, respectively, it will be half as much). If you disable AMD Turbo Core 3.0 technology in BIOS, then in the test 4 cores gain only 3480.

Pros
  • The cheapest quad-core CPU for 2022-2022
Cons
  • I have never seen it in the BOX version, i. E. only one year warranty. Once at a time it doesn’t happen or the sample is different . some write that it’s very cold, but mine is excessively hot. Maybe that's why they don't sell it with a regular cooler? Because the regular one may not cool it.
