My girls love it!
I have used milk crates before using this set of nest bins, the girls were always throwing litter, breaking eggs etc. I installed 2 of these on some Lowes buckets and fixed them to a rack, and add some hay. Within minutes the girls were looking for them and within hours I had a couple of balls. The girls seem easy on and off (I have Orpingtons, Austrolorps, Ameracauna, Wyandots, Barred Stones) and they all enjoy using them (I think lol). Eggs stay whole and clean.
