One tool to scan the entire system at a great price!

The MD806 Pro is a VERY powerful tool for the price. A good tool to save yourself a trip to your local auto parts store just to get some codes. Aside from the usual OBD2 codes, it supports most (if not all) systems in the car. It has several additional features such as oil return, electronic parking brake (EPB) modes to help with home repairs, steering angle sensor calibration, DPF features such as regeneration and finally some battery management system features. Firstly, MD806 pro comes in a very compact blister case with OBD2 cable, MD806 pro, mini USB cable and user manual. Speaking of USB cables, I STRONGLY recommend updating/registering the device once it arrives. It added many different things that weren't on the SD card. The OBD2 cable is approximately 3 feet long, allowing the scanner to remain in the vehicle's OBD2 connector area. The keys have a very pleasant feel and make a good "click" when pressed. The plastic and rubber over the molding feels very good in the hand. After starting the device, I noticed that it boots up immediately and in less than 5 seconds. There are many menus to help you troubleshoot. The first and most useful is the scan menu. This is a vehicle specific menu listing all systems. After going through the menu to narrow down the car type, I noticed that not all brands have the ability to search a car by its VIN. No problem if you know what type of engine, gearbox, etc. it has. Once the right car is selected you can read all the system codes (and freeze frame data) or go straight to some live data. Scanning the code shows all the modules well, but seems like more work could be done on the font size and placement. In some menus it is sometimes the whole word and then the last character on the next line. It's not really a big deal, but sometimes it comes across as clumsy and not as sophisticated as it should be. When navigating through the menu, selecting a vehicle type can sometimes take a VERY long time (e.g. several minutes). That's really the only reason for the minus stars. The real-time refresh rate is quite high and works quite well. I just want to select the PIDs that I ONLY want to display. Sometimes things like long-term and short-term fuel adjustments are on different pages, making it difficult to see both at the same time. You can view up to two PIDs at a time, which is useful, but not as useful as it would be if you could only select the PIDs you want to see. Overall I am very satisfied with this scan tool. I've only had an issue with a GM vehicle that the OEM tool has little functionality for. For the price this was a good addition to my garage and a very good tool when I want to connect and get some codes quickly. Definitely recommend this to anyone buying a full system scan tool.
