I have a betta tank with 2 algae eaters and about 7 mysterious snails. However, I was looking for something that would make the rooster's house more realistic. Snails prefer coconut shells. I read many different reviews before purchasing this item. I've even read that a few say they get worms in their tank after putting leaves in it. Well, even after reading this, I decided to buy it. A week later, when I was cleaning the gravel, I saw thousands of tiny worms that looked almost like chunks of my plant roots. But they were just a wiggle. I managed to get rid of them I think. I think my fish and other creatures liked to eat them, so maybe controlling the population helped too. In the end I wouldn't buy it again.
