I bought this for my 13 year old daughter who wanted to learn to sew. She loves it! It's small, so it's easy to maneuver, but it's still sturdy. So I have a feeling there isn't much she can do with this machine unless she decides to make ship masts. It's easy to use, yet feels like an adult sewing machine. It does pretty much everything my big darling does (I've even used it once or twice when I didn't want to dig out my big car!). She likes the purple in it and the fact that it's accents and not so much purple makes her feel like she's not a toy and makes her feel "grown up". The instructions were easy to follow and everything was ready for her. The only downside I could find was that it came with black and white thread with matching spools pre-wound. So if she wanted to use a different color (like borrowing a color from me) she either had to fully unwind one. Roll, otherwise we would have to buy her more.
