I've had tighter stockings than these.

I read all reviews and follow every suggestion. I even installed it in my garden so there were no surprises. This week I was on a horseback riding expedition into the Jefferson National Forest, across country, long abandoned and non-existent trails. The first night we camped on a rocky mountainside without incident. I was mosquito free by standing buggy of an intermittent creek. It was a huge win. My blanket and saddle were under the hammock. On the second night we found an abandoned camp. After spending hours clearing and restoring the grounds, I finally set up my favorite hammock and passed out. I mean "break down". Two seconds later, my weary bones fell headfirst onto the floor. Luckily a teammate had a spare hammock to put back under my broken gear. Crashed into a carabinieri. I survived the night The next day I discovered that the original hole matched and was caused by the velcro on my 5.11 pants. Not cool. We left camp there and just went for a short afternoon walk. On the third night it started raining. Please note that my raincoat covers the shoulder straps more than enough. I have stayed with other hammocks without incident. Not this time. Suctioned water spurted out in unrealistic amounts at both ends. I exhaled my last breath, crawled under another umbrella over saddles and gear, and fell asleep. That ends the story of my Etrol hammock. I ate the wholesome bits and sent them off like an Appalachian Viking. There is no point in returning or replacing it, since this is too delicate and expensive service. It definitely wasn't worth the weight and space for the rest of the trip. I'm just glad it wasn't during a search and rescue operation. For people who suggest I wear it on the floor or whatever, I read the reviews that warned against it and made sure to roll it up in my raincoat along with my linens left underneath, when i installed it. If it was ripstop or had some degree of weather resistance like my $14 hammock, I'd be more forgiving. Let me know if these issues have been resolved.
